The first major US law enforcement agency is on fire after two of its most powerful and aggressive officials, including the director of the Central Bureau of Investigation, were caught by federal investigators in a bizarre instance.
The U. S. Attorney's office said Wednesday that investigators in San Francisco were investigating allegations that the FBI and the Cipolotan U. Postal Service were responsible for the arrest of three people accused of having a drug case and for allegedly smuggling Viagra and other impotency drugs from China.
The investigation is the latest effort by the department to disrupt the FBI's operations in the wake of the anthrax attacks.
"This case is particularly concerning because it is a case of national security," said U. Attorney Samuel Xin.
