The price increase came after a Viagra prescription price hike was announced in 2013.
CVS, which has a reported price of $9.99 per pill, said it is in discussions with the FDA about selling Viagra for a lower price.
It is expected the price of Viagra will rise from $9.99 to $12.99.
CVS spokeswoman Lidia Carter said: “The pharmacy and pharmacy benefit manager is making clear that they are aware of any price increase, and are confident it will help consumers obtain the medication they need.
“Our customers will be pleased with the increased price and are confident that they can use it,” she said.
CVS spokesman Joe Lohr said: “We are continuing to work with our pharmacy and pharmacy benefit manager to address the increased price and increase the price of Viagra at CVS, and to ensure we do not sell Viagra for more than a set price.”
CVS will not return a request for comment from Fox News. CVS has not responded to a request for comment from MedPage Today.
